Local artists of all levels of experience were invited to submit two pieces for presentation in this, the opening show of the festival. Painting, drawing, photography, 3d work, digital, . . . whatever their thing. This was the time to share it. The Friday night opening ‘Preview’ was extremely well supported by local art enthusiasts, and those who attended were able to talk to the many of the artists who had submitted works to the show. The exhibition continued on the Saturday and Sunday, with generous voluntary support from a small army of staff behind the refreshments counter.
The tradition of an annual ‘Art on the Green’ exhibition like this dates back many generations. The current incarnation has its roots in the events organised by the late Chris Liddiard who himself was a highly talented artists (and musician).
And in fact the very first Little Arts Festival back in 2016 was Chris Liddiard’s brainchild – the idea of bringing together, and celebrating, all the amazing artistic, creative and imagination individuals and arts groups we have locally in and around Rushlake Green. So Chris’s inspiration and legacy is very much still alive today.
