Big Little Arts Weekend – In Your Own Words
A participative poetry and prose session
Sunday 28th September 2025
2.00pm in the Dunn Village Hall, Rushlake Green, TN21 9QD
WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT
If you’re a writer, it’s time to stand up for your writes!
We’d love you and your work to be featured in our poetry and prose session, in the Dunn Village Hall, as part of the Big Little Arts Weekend.
HOW WILL THE SESSION WORK?
We hope that you will read your work yourself but if you feel unable to do so, members of the Rushlake Green Village Players will be on hand to do the readings on your behalf. We’re planning a very informal and supportive session. There will also be refreshments and an opportunity to meet up with other local writers and interested readers.
WHAT IF I JUST WANT TO COME AND LISTEN?
Anyone is welcome to come along and hear our writers’ works being read out, and we hope that lots of people will take advantage of this fun and stimulating event. To come and listen you don’t need to book in advance. Just turn up on the day – its a free to attend event. And after the session there’ll be tea, coffee and cake – and a chance to talk to the writers whose work you’ve been enjoying.
WHO CAN TAKE PART OR CONTRIBUTE?
Anyone. Any age. Any level of writing experience.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION?
If you want to take part. please register your interest by 19th September 2025
HOW DO I REGISTER AN INTEREST IN CONTRIBUTING MY WRITING?
We need to plan the session, so you will need to register your interest in advance.
You are invited to contribute one or two pieces of writing, to either read yourself or have read for you. As we expect quite a lot of contributions we are recommending that writings should not be longer than can be read out in 3-4 minutes. If your piece is longer you could always suggest an excerpt. And of course there is no lower limit on the length of your pieces. Haiku welcome!
We will definitely have at least one reading for each contributor. Some or all of any second pieces will then be read out, depending on the time available.
Please email the following details:
– Your name
– Contact details (email and phone
Plus for each of your one or two pieces:
– Title
– Type of work e.g. Poem, Sonnet, Short Story, Song Lyric, Haiku etc.
– Rough read-through out loud duration e.g. 2 mins 30 secs etc
– Whether you’re happy to read it yourself, or would prefer it read for you
Nearer the time, if you want someone to read your work on your behalf, we will ask you to send ua a copy of the text you’ll be contributing.
There is no fee for taking part
Donations to the Little Arts Festival funds are always welcome
