On 17th August, as part of the festival, the Village Players led a stimulating session of poetry and prose readings.
This highlight of the event was the inclusion of readings by several extremely talented local poets and writers.
The Village Players segments, people had been asked in advance to choose a favourite reading that they would like to share informally with others, or have read by one of the Players’ acting team. It could be a poem, an extract of prose, a speech from a play, or even the words of a song. Or would they like to share or perform some of your own writing? What resulted was an engaging and enjoyable series of readings by members of the Village Players, based on the requests received. This comprised a variety of poems and readings, including both traditional and modern works, some themed, some serious and others humorous. The Players also gave a performance of a brilliantly humerous short play by a talented local writer.
