Local artist Mark Austin ran a series of sketching sessions that invited participants to get hands on with charcoal and paper whilst also walking around locations that connect with the history of the village and its communities through the ages.
The walk and sketch sessions each comprised three parts:
– A talk about Mark’s personal journey transitioning from engineer to artist and why Rushlake Green is his artistic home
– Walk in the Weald around Rushlake Green embracing nature, sketching with Mark’s homemade charcoal, discovering how to be expressive with mark-making.
– Some reflective time reviewing the creative experience and the resultant works.
Mark shared his artistic journey so far – how it has developed through both sculpture and drawing.
Each event started at the Dunn Village Hall, and Mark provided sketching paper and supplies of his own homemade charcoal.
